Automobiles in Germany's Town Found Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Officers reported they were alerted by a individual who found a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a release.

Law enforcement state they were alerted during the night on Wednesday evening, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The substance had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they added.

Law enforcement then found many other marked cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.

Police say preliminary tests show the liquid was probably human blood.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the incident," they stated.

City officials said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the community for information.

A high-ranking representative stated the vandalism made him without words and had to be addressed rapidly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on online, recalling the death of nine victims by a assailant focusing on residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
